What do I wear Friday night?
Casual dressy? Look nice! Dinner is at The New Bedford Whaling Museum 18 Johnny Cake Hill New Bedford, MA. Cocktails start at 7:30 and for the first hour of the party you can tour the museum!
What's happening after the rehearsal dinner Friday night? I didn't fly/drive/train all the way here just for dinner!
Good question. We are going to a local bar called Cork that is stumbling distance from the Whaling Museum and the hotel. The hotel is about an 8-10 minute walk from the Whaling Museum. We'll also have a shuttle running exclusively for our guests to and from the Museum and hotel after 10PM. If you want a ride to the rehearsal dinner, the shuttle is available, but contact the front desk ahead of time as other hotel guests will have access at that time.
*We've been told to avoid two bars in town unless you really want some local flavor--The National & Fins
What should I do Saturday?
You can explore downtown New Bedford! In the 1850's this city was one of the richest in the world. It was also home to Frederick Douglas and the setting for Moby Dick (which Andrew still finds boring).
Eliza is from the lovely town of Dartmouth (about a ten minute drive from the hotel) and we are thinking of organizing either a scenic 5K run or a light INJURY FREE game of soccer. We'll give you more details on Friday. There is also a short golf course for those who are interested and of course some wonderful beaches and foliage to check out.
What should I wear saturday night?
Formal. No black tie. There will be grass; avoid spiked heels. Wedges and flats encouraged.
I've never been to Massachusetts, but I've seen The Town & The Departed. Does everyone talk that?
No, but a lot of people do. Here are some useful terms courtesy of Eliza's older brother Jeb:
